Just want to show some macro shots of Nikkor 105mm VR

It took me 2 hours to cover just about every single of corals in one of my reef buddy's tank. All shots were taken with Nikon D80 and it's macro lens 105mm VR. Want you take some critical eyes to look at each of the photo, constructive criticism is welcomed.

VEry nice use of the minimal DOF.
Can you please share your shooting mode and tank lighting? those were flashless right?

Thanks Guys,
The photos were shoot in manual mode, and shooting value varies depending on where the coral shutter speed were between to 1/8- 1/20 sec. D80 was mounted on a tripod and controlled by remote shutter release plus the VR lens to minimize on the camera shake.
The tank was lid by 2x 250watt phoneix @ 14000K, no flash was used.

Isn't it recommended to put VR off when on a good Tripod? I remember reading that Vr will cause some blurr if camera is completely stable?

It CAN cause some blurring on a tripod with VR on, but doesn't always. At least in my experience it has no rhyme or reason. I sometimes forget to turn it off after I put it on a tripod, and photos will come out fine, other times it will blur. So I'd say it's just a crap shoot on a tripod with VR on.

From what I heard it's recommanded to turn it off if using the 1st generation VR equiped lens when tripod is used. The 105mm VRII doesn't have that restriction anymore though I could be wrong.

I think your correct AfricanGrey, there is a difference between VR and VRII and I remember reading it was no longer suggested too turn off the VR when on a tripod but do not own a VR II lens.

First shot looks underexposed, the rest look exposed well and some interesting compositions.
