Hi Denver Reef People!!!

I'm just getting back into the aquarium hobby after about a decade out of it. Previously kept a brackish water tank with Amazonian Scats, and Figure 8 Puffers that thrived for 5 years.

I just got my 120 gallon All-Glass Megaflow tank, custom 36" high stand, Blueline HD40 pump, and ADHI 45 gallon refugium a couple weeks ago. First thing I did was go out and pick a color for the back of the tank that was just what I wanted. I love how it turned out. I then ordered some Aragocrete from www.garf.org that was on special since the price was very nice. I will use this 40lbs. of Aragocrete rock to supplement the 75lbs of Fiji live rock that I'll add after the tank is filled.

Right now I'm getting the last supplies I need to do the plumbing work for the drains and return. Have a pair of durso standpipes coming in the mail. Will be buying a Vortech Powerhead next week...

Then I just need the RO/DI unit and I can start filling the thing with water. Gonna be an exciting process. Just wanted to say hi in the Denver area forum. I may be asking for advice soon.

Okay, I have the drain plumbing done. It wasn't perfect, so I'm praying it doesn't have any leaks. I have the flex PVC for the return plumbing on the way, as well as some durso standpipes. Once that arrives I can finish the plumbing.

I ordered my RO/DI unit from The Filter Guys today...now all I need before my live rock purchase, is the Vortech powerhead. Once I have the money for that, I can get water in the tank and make sure none of my plumbing leaks.

Got a long ways to go, but I'm getting there slowly.
 
Okay,

I've lightly tested the drain plumbing with glasses of water, and the water all ended up in the fuge...no drips under light duty. We'll see how it does under full duty once I get the tank filled.

Got the Durso Standpipes installed and ready to roll...forgot that I need some heaters, and some loc-line for the returns. Seems like there's no end to the equipment list. Things keep coming out of the woodwork that I didn't think of.

Finally got my plumbing done with my 45 gal. refugium, so here's some pictures of the setup.

As for the refugium, the first chamber will hold the skimmer. The second chamber will be the refugium with sand bed, live rock rubble, and macro-algae. The last chamber will be for the phosban reactor, charcoal reactor, and is the intake for the return pump.

Your tank looks very nice. I have always liked the black oak stands and canopy's. If you ever need more agaro rock, it is easy to make. Brian League displayed how easy it is to make what ever size shape you want. What type of lighting are you going to use, with hood or not? Send more pictures as you progress.
 
There's 40lbs of Aragocrete in there now, and I'll be putting 50lbs of dry fiji rock in next to it once the tank is filled. That's dry rock though, so probably more like 70lbs of wet live rock. At that point, I'm going to buy some fully ecrusted premium live rock to seed it all out, and should be good, I think.

As for lighting, I'll be eventually getting a Current USA HQI (2x250w) and T5 (4 x 54w) fixture that will be on legs over the tank. No hood on the tank.

For the first few months, while the tank is cycling and getting stabilized and the seeded rock is getting colonized, I am going to just use a cheap fluorescent fixture with blue actinics in it.
 
Well, this is it...Water is going into the tank (veeeeeeery slowly) from my RO/DI unit. In a few days, I'll be adding the dry rock, and vortech powerhead. Have a MSX 200 Skimmer arriving this week as well. Gonna go buy myself some salt mix tomorrow evening. YIPPIE!
 
Are you going to be placing some substrate in your tank? I just thought I would mention it to you before you got your tank filled with water. If becomes quite a mess.
Take some more pics when you got time.
 
I wish my first tank was that nice to start, great job. I just noticed that the bulkhead is backwards on your return pump. You might want to turn it around, most of the time they will leak like that, Adhi installs them that way so they won't break during transport.
I'm looking forward to seeing more....
