Juv. G. personatus update!

I might be mistaken, but didn't John Coppolino visit this tank when he was in Japan? It was either this tank or Koji Wada's personal tank, can't recall. I always wonder how someone keeps deep water specimens in a SPS tank. The tank temps to keep these fish content and flourishing long term would be detrimental to most SPS. When I had my Bandit trio, I kept my tank between 70-72; at that time I kept no corals. Beautiful tank, so there must be a secret to keeping both fish and coral happy.

The tank I visited you're thinking about was in Kyoto Japan and contained the adult personatus we caught back in '07...

I also stayed with Koji for a few days in Osaka and saw all of his systems... this juvenile personatus was caught after my trip, but I travel back to Japan next year... I may try and track this tank down but am also gunning for the peppermint angel tank also... it's a hike from Osaka and will take a full dedicated day... worth it perhaps for a peppermint though...

The low 70s temperatures I run in my subtropical tank have been no problem for sps incidentally...

Oh, and more recently I photographed a couple of tanks with a few harems worth of small personatus... I will eventually show these but have to keep them under wraps for now... :)

Wow wow, that would be a sight!!! Are they at a private or public tanks? or a breeding facility ;) (crossing my fingers!!!)?

Yes it was an amazing sight to say the least... and I'll show the photos soon, but for now unfortunately I cannot elaborate... I can say, unfortunately, they are not in my house!:sad1:

The Waikiki aquarium has a new Northwest Hawaiian Islands exhibit that will be home to 8 female personatus that were collected through a special use permit at the island of Midway - where they are quite abundant in shallow water. I'm not sure if the exhibit is open yet, but it will certainly be worth a visit when it is.

WOW. That is going to be an incredible site!!!

Rufus, do you have any information on this system? This is one of my all time favorite tanks and i'd love to know more about it!

And a new one, this time with a very special new addition!!!!!

isn't that centropyge hotomutua...??!!!!!:spin1::celeb1:
where did he get that...???

I thought it looks like a baby interrupta. Now, the question is whether it is wild caught or captive bred. Let's hope for the latter so maybe some of us can get them in the US.

I sure do love that very non-dwarf, pygmy! They're just non-existant in the US.

I was there at the end of July and it wasn't open yet. The big news on the island is that crazy disney resort/theme park/aquarium thing opening on the west side.

that Waikiki Display is unreal! Im going to have to go see it as well as this disney resort you speak of!

This guy continues to amaze me. His tank is at the top of my favs list. That new angel looks to be a juvi interrupta to me...

God.... I would love to see that Display in person!

I guess I am weird, but I just love plain white and black fish...

That little angel is a Juvenile C. interrupta.
