Juvenile Goldflake

My LFS has one of these, I have never seen a juvenile. The price is $330, is that overpriced? Anyone have any experience with juvenile's? I am contemplating picking buying it this weekend? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would definitely pick it up for that price if it is eating and appears healthy. Juvi goldflakes are far and few between. They are by far one of the most beautiful and active Angels in the hobby.

great fish as a juvi

Ok you guys convinced me. I called my LFS they are holding him for me until tomorrow. This guy still has the black spot under his dorsal fin. Thanks for all the feedback!

I would highly recommend treating with Prazipro for flukes, or doing a FW dip to see if it has flukes. Most of the goldflakes I've seen or gotten had flukes.

Wow, that is awesome! Do you know where the fish was collected from? About how big is it 2.5-3"? Very cool, I'm jealous.

That is a gorgeous Juvi goldflake. Very nice pickup. Good Luck with it Cmart28. I have yet to find a juvi that nice, I am jealous :>)
What LFS was that from? I used to go to Absolutely Fish in Clifton and the Aquarium Center in Clementon. They always had some really nice fish.

juvi goldflakes are seasonal and in small numbers (only exported out of christmas) I have had them as small as nickel size before, but the juvies are usually in the quarter to 1.5" range, then turn to adult in the 2.5-3" range. They are definitely a cool little fish. I have never had a problem with them. 300+ is a fair price for their rarity compared to adults.

Thanks everyone. He is only about 1.5", his belly is getting nice and fat. I got him from Tropaquarium in Ocean, NJ.

As LA said above treat with Prazi and FW dips. I would do a treatment now and then right before inro. to the display. Tim

AWESOME fish!!! I have goldflake envy as well! :D

Thats too funny... I worked at a LFS/aquaculture facility called the Tropicorium, and people mistakenly called it the Tropaquarium all the time!
