Juvenile naso blonde coloration

I can't comment on that because I never purchased any of them and we didn't keep them that long. But sometimes we would have them for a few weeks and they looked fine, ate fine, everything about them was good, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. But for sure keep us posted on how it does and how the color changes or stays the same.

I've never seen a Naso of any type that looked like that, even in juvenile colouration. (and they all look very different as juvis)

I think you have something interesting there... Get us a better pic please. Find a friend who has a device that is at least primarily designed as a camera! (Can you tell I hate phone-cams?)

Believe it or not, that is a Nikon Coolpix camera. I hate point and shoots. My mom has a D90, maybe she will take some shots for me. Cleaning the glass tonight so I will see what happens.

another bad pic

When i bought my tiny naso ( size of a quarter no joke) he had no colour at all and would go completly black for long periods of time ( weeks) eventually it stopped and he started to develop normal colouration. Probably lasted a total of 3 months off and on.

I think the coloration is going stay the same for now. I've worked in lfs and been to wholesalers where I've seen a tank full of juv. Naso tangs where some would be brown, grey, or black; while others would have a nice silver color to them. I think it's related to the "mood" of the fish. I'd guess that after a few months of getting used to you DT and gets a bit more mean on it's bones your fish will return to it's normal colors but for now i'd just suggest lots of yummy food cuz to me it looks a bit on the thin side.

Well, he has lightened up a small amount, and the stripe between his eyes is turning yellow. He is starting to gain some weight. Looks like his coloration is going to be normal. His fins have some nicks in them, but I think it may be from the coral beauty. They are close in size.

He looks more and more like a regular blonde everyday. I am a bit worried because he has a few bad spots on his fins. Looks like it could be fin rot, but it also could be some agression from the coral beauty. He never showed signs of it in QT, so I hope it is just agression.

How the story ended?

I ordered also Blonde Naso (Naso elegans) but have got a black specimen just like one in this thread. Mine is juvenile about nearly 3 inches. So, I am also wonder is it Blonde Naso or regular naso (Naso lituratus) or maybe some other baby Naso or baby Acanthurus?

So, what turned up about your tang ID?
