K4 Mod

Mark - Thanks for putting this together. The question we need to ask is if they are willing to switch the magnet on the Gs2 so that it is the MJ1200 magnet?

I asked for Matt at Triton's contact info to see if this is possible on the main thread. I'll let you know

I think thats part of the mod?? to swich out the bigger propeller on a mj1200 impellers. so you think we can just order them like that? I wonder what the cost is.. good thinking

Or are you just wanting to swap out the impellers on the GS2 bundle kit,

Well according to Rudy, if you are using the mod for the Koralia 4, you can't just switch out the prop. The magnet that comes with the Gs2 is too large to fit in the Koralia housing but the MJ magnet fit's perfect. So you need to purchase a MJ1200 Impeller just for the magnet (unless you have an extra 1200 lying around of course).

I personally don't need the extra MJ 1200 impeller.

Actually you got me thinking...I have two 1200's in my tank behind the rock that provide flow behind my aquscape. I wonder if I can switch out just the magnet that comes w/ the Gs2 and keep the original MJ prop....hmmm. I really don't need the extra flow on the 1200. just the Koralia....

This hobby/obsession drives me nuts some times......

Cool thanks for the info.... Yep have a couple of 1200 doing nothing,,,,, I can use thoes, and what a great idea, I have a large rock wall that Ive been concerend about flow getting around it, the 1200 behind it would be great thanks JEFF

Anytime... I have a lot of rock in my tank so it helps my tank a lot w/ the extra flow hidden behind the rockwork. You don't even know their there when you look at my tank from the front....

Thanks for posting about this OP. I went on my own and ordered 2 of the props and mags......Almost $50!

2 props @ $6.99 +shipping = 19.97
2 impellers @ $9.99 + shipping = 28.99

Could have saved about $14 had I waited on the GB.

EDIT I just canceled my order through that pet place. They don't have them instock. Will hope the people with the props have them.

This is true, you can't just switch it out. you will also need the MJ 1200 Impeller. I still don't know if it will work with the K3 because I don't know what the difference in sizes is, but the guy on the other thread said there as it is with the K4, there is little room left so I don't think it will work with them but I may order something like this and try it out anyways!!!

Hey, guys, if you are just interested in getting props to build your own DIY maxi-mod or K4-mod then we should really be ordering direct. Check out the props here (top 4 listed): http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0097p?MANUFACTURER=DUM&FVSEARCH=PROP

I believe the most popular ones to use are the Dumas 3002 and Dumas 3004. These are only $1 each through this hobby store versus the $5.99 and $6.99 from a reef store! I'm in no hurry to order, so do your research, then we can order what we need from the cheapest place around.

there is that hobby store on college oak and auburn?? its like a r/c air plane store, anyone know what Im talking about.????

I did some looking today. I do not believe any shops in town carry the props we need. However I did find the Dumas website and here is the link for the dumas 3004 props. http://www.dumasestore.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=72_74&products_id=532

Exotic had a handful of MJ1200 impellers for $11 each.

I am ordering four props today and if anyone is interested, I can add a few onto my order pretty easily.

The props are $1.20 each (plus tax).

My order will go through tonight about 9 pm. Anyone wanting to get in on the order, just let me know by then.

I have ordered 14 of the propellers
Prop #3004 for .19 to .35 Size Engine 3/16" Hole
$1.20 each $7.00 shipping

6 for me
4 for bored4long
2 for bbcoach4

These should fit perfectly onto a MJ1200 magnet assembly.

I also have about 8 extra metal shafts for the Korallia #4.

I will let you know when they arrive.

propellers are in the mail!

I got this e-mail today from Dumas:
