K4 Mod

I got my stuff going, it took a small piece of airline tube at the prop side at the end to take up some of the slack but it fired right up in the proper direction (which was questioned) and really shoots the water. Pump is a bit louder now. Never a give without some kind of take.

how hard was it to do on the K4? Did you have to make any additional changes or was it just a swap of parts?

Beware this mod is very questionable.
I moded one k4 and it starts foreward then reverses,not reliable at all.Plus it put out a stream like an old power head not a wide spread like a un modded k4.

Hey Reefer, is that with the flow deflector on? Have you tried taking it off?

The mod is working great with the MJ1200 impeller I got from BBcoach. You will get a much more directionalized flow a couple inches across. More like a Tunze than what the Koralia normally produces.

The unit might start in reverse, but that is because the propelers are angled to spin in reverse compared to the impellers that come with a K4. You just have to restart the unit a couple of times or remove it from the water and put it back in a few times.

Do not try using this mod with wavemakers!

I will post pics once I find some MJ1200 impellers for the mod. I am putting together four of them for myself, so if anyone has any impellers, please let me know.

I saw this mod last night......definately and upgrade in flow. I'm only going to have to run 2 of these in my 180.

This mod is not easy to do, and between experimenting with pieces and getting everything working, I would have to say this mod took some effort, but is very worth it.
