kalk dosing/osmolater combo?

I now understand how the osmolater works and would like to use it to dose very small amounts of kalk in a 30 gallon softie tank and would like to know basically how the clear plastic Tunze kalk doser works with the osmolater particularly how the kalk is mixed and metered and dosage figured.
Thanks as usual for the great Tunze products and service.

It is mixed by the osmolator pumping from the bottom of the cylinder., and the output from the doser is at the top of the unit. thus each time it doses it slowly stirs. The dosage is set by the eye of the osmolator and the top off requirements of the tank. Hope that helps

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I am trying to ask what determines the strength/amount of kalk reaching the tank? Is it how muck kalk you put in the dispenser or how often? I UNDERSTAND THE USUAL WAY OF ADDING WATER FROM A RESERVOIR WITH A KNOWN AMOUNT OF KALK MIXED IN TO DETERMINE THE STRENGTH BUT THIS IS DIFFERENT. (whoops caps sorry)Can you just put a little kalk in the dispenser once a week or does it have to be saturated?
Thanks again.

The unit works basically like any other typical kalk reactor. You are adding "extra" kalk to the container every so often, lets say once a week which I think would be typical with a unit this small. I am not great at the chemistry side but to simplify it kalk can only saturate water only so far(which is basically what you do when you mix in a jug or reservoir and let it settle out before use, you have the saturated solution left and the residual powder falls to the bottom) so the pump adds water to the container is mixes with the powder at the bottom adding it to the water column. Larger kalk reactors like those from Geo etc... work on the same principal but use a mixing pump or magnetic stirrer turned on a handful of times a day for short bursts to mix the kalk into soultion
