Kalk reactor mixing pumps

He Guys,
I've about had it with the MJ pump on my Geo kalk reactor. The impellers last about 6 weeks. Just wondering what others use. I'm thinking about trying the Mag 2.

I'd kind of like to hear from guys using pumps other then MJ's on Kalk reactors.

Er... I am using a MJ on my Reactor... no problems for almost 6 months now.

Er....I figured I'd hear from everybody and their brother who's been using a MJ for X amount of time, hence the reason for the quote above

try the eheim 1250. I bought one for my reactor which is still being built. Mario is using a 1250 for his. Either that, or go with a 1048

Yeah, I looked at the Eheims but their not pipe threaded. I guess could rig it up.

yup, just use teflon tape and 3/4 inch threads and your set

oops, mario is using the 1250 for a CA reactor. My bad on that. Try the 1048. Should work well

so you don't know anything about using Ehiem pumps on a kalk reactor?

hey Mark how about a quite one 1200 that is what iam using in my Kalk reactor and its working good not only that but its treaded for pipes.

that was my second choice behind the Mag, the only reason I like the Mag is that MD lists the impellers for em, didn't see anything for the QO. Any idea what the impeller cost for your QO 1200 is and how easy it is to get?

I'm using an Eheim 1046 on mine, I was using some real gritty kalk and trashed an impellor, but now I'm using the Kalk i got from you, and no problems, I run it 6 times a day for 15 mins.

i've been using a mag2 for over a year on a DIY kalk reactor without issues. actually, i had a restart problem when i left the reactor unused for over 2 weeks and left the kalk and water in the chamber. i'm sure it was more my fault than the pump.
