Kalk reactors

Out curiousity... does anyone have one? I've been reading stuff about it and am curious what other peoples thoughts about it-- What is your take on it? DIY or manufactured?

I use a GEO kalk reactor to help maintain calcium and pH. It's tapped into my ATO so when ever the ATO turns on it goes through the reactor. I use this along with two part...

Hey Nuuze

How do you like the reactor? Can you explain how the reactor really works? Do you have tune it in to get the right amount of kalk everytime you water tops off?

The Geo is built pretty solid. Very thick acrylic and smooth all around.

Basically you add RO water until near full, then mix about a half cup of kalk with RO water in a cup then pour it in the top where the cap is sticking out. Set the pump on a timer, Geo recommends the pump to stir 15 minutes 4 times a day so I set that on my ACjr every 6 hours. For me when my sump levels drop and the float valve senses it then it kicks on. It pumps fresh RO water from the RO supply throughh the reactor then to the sump, so all my top off is kalk. I always have low pH so it works out perfect for me. When I notice my pH slowly starting to drop that's when I know to add more kalk.
