I've got a couple Aquamedic stirrers that have been going for a couple years. I paid 199 each. I think they run 230ish now.. Still a pretty good deal IMO. It would be pretty hard to build one that works the same way for less money.. You can build or buy one that just uses a pump to mix the kalk.. But the pumps tend start sticking pretty fast. That and you have to worry about your stir pump kicking on while your ATO is on.. With a stirrer like the Aquamedic or delta it just slowly turns constantly.. So the arm doesn't get stuck and you dont have to worry about dumping undissolved lime into your tank.
