Kalkwasser Reactor Workshop is on.

ok---never having built or had a Kalkwasser Reactor--I have some questions......what type of maintenance is involved in using this item, adding the needed media, stirring, etc, and about how how often.

What is the footprint of both models? If I have a 125 tank--should I just make the bigger one regardless?

Does it need to sit in a sump, or can it be a HOB?

sorry for the questions--but better to ask now than while putting the object together.

On my 90gal I have mine setup inline with my gravity feed auto top off. Every 2 months I drain about 2 cups of water out of the reactor and replace it with kalkwasser powder.

125gal model could handle up to 150-75 but you will be replacing the kalkwasser on a faster basis. I have my pump turn on every 6 hours for 5 min.

125gal model footprint with pump will be 6" X 10"
250gal model footprint with pump will be 8" X 12"

Sits flat on the floor. This is not an in sump of hang on back model.

operating instructions are located Here

Here are pictures of mine I built over a year ago. Its tucked away in the corner of my cabinet.

Hope this helps.

thank you -- looks like it is doing its job....

would I need all the CO2 stuff for this also?........

Yes there is a difference. The model were building mixes via a maxijet pump. Both types produce the same results. But our model will not wearout the acrylic.

Sorry Guys, The Kit order deadline has changed to April 15th. My supplier is going on vacation.
Sorry
Eric

Everyone who is attending must purchase their kit by this weekend. For those who don't have paypal you must email
me so I can get the order count in by the 16th then you can give
me the money at the meeting on the 21st. If you just hand me money on the 21st and never emailed me. I will just return your money. I need to know the total count by the 16th. emelton@lireef.org
Thanks
Eric

Can I hook this up to a ro water top off system such as the spectrapure liquid level controller? I mean rodi water into the reactor and rodi/kalk out into the sump? This isnt pressurized to much is it?

does this controller activate a solenoid or a pump?

then you should be fine if the kalk reactor is hooked up after the solenoid. This way there is only low pressure when activated because the output would be open.
I definatly would not put it before the solenoid. Then it would be under pressure 24/7.
