Kalkwasser Reactors...specifically kalk stirrers

I was using 5 g jug for kalkwasser as topoff for a while. What I found is it makes a crust at the bottom if the kalk stays there for a while. All Kalk stirrer/reactors on market as alteast $200+.

I went ahead and made me one using plans from RC site and boy does it work great. It is a sealed system and is stirred 4 times a day for 5 mins each.

Very happy with this new addition to my tank. calcium is at 500-480! And all sps polyps are fully extended!

How much kalk do you put in your DIY reactor and how long before refilling?

I like the idea of the Tunze because it doesnt use a manual float. I will just use the Tunze pump and if it fails Ill switch to the Aqualifter.

Actually, I just fill-up about 1lb or 1.5 lb (never really measured as I like to add a saturated solution of kalk. When I see it going down (It is like a white powder, milky water) which about a month, I refill the kalk stirred ( I should make a habbit of filling it every month but then lazy me :) )
