Kalkwasser vs Bubble Algae

I was using a kalkwasser to kill off some aiptasia and got some kalk on the bubble algae cluster adjacent to the anemone. Two days later the cluster of bubble algae was dead and gone. Has anyone tried this? Is it safe? I haven't seen any ill affects in the tank. I wonder if the spores of the bubble algae was released since it was entirely covered in kalk? Any ideas as to how or what happened?

The local high pH may certainly have killed it, but I have no idea about spores being released. If it works it seems like a fine plan.

I've dribbled kalk paste on persistent patches of bryopsis with success.
