Katie's CAD Lights 34g Nano

I have my eye on this same tank as my first reef tank. Looking forward to seeing your tank progress.

It's a gorgeous tank! The glass is so thick, it feels really sturdy and like it will last for ages. Plenty of room in the back to customize and upgrade things later. I highly recommend. Especially for the price.

Following along. Looks good. I also run the im reactor in my 34 solana and I think I want to get another to run carbon. I currently run bio pellets in it and carbon in a mesh bag. Can't wait to see it filled.

How is it working for you? Super easy to change media?

Oh no guys! I couldn't resist!

Just picked up two clowns from local reefer vincent92. Now I have another tank! A 3G picotope. He gave me their filter with it too so at least I've got the cycled filter for them until I get the new tank ready.

Super, I have have to wait a bit longer as we are getting ready to move to a new condo in the next 6 months.

Platinum? Nice!

Its very easy to change out the media in the reactor. I used it for carbon before changing it out to biopellets. Just pull up, dump old carbon put new one in put it back in and adjust flow. With BP it's even easier as you just have to top off. That's why I want to get another and set it up like how you have it.

One is a Wyoming white and the other some kind of "fancy white". I knew I wanted a Wyoming so I jumped on it. Not such a big fan of the fancy so we'll see. They don't seem super bonded yet, as no happy dance from the little Wyoming, so maybe I'll switch up the pair. The guy who sold them to me really needed both gone so I took both.

Just trying to help, it was a great deal especially local. Good grab considering on the normal fish sale forum I think only 1 Wyoming white was $150. Your welcome. Beautiful fish:)

Right? I was expecting to pay $175 plus shipping! Now I even have a little hospital tank! What a steal!

What do you guys think? When I get water in the 34G, are the clowns better off in theier cycled 3g or should I dump them in the 34g and just keep a close eye on ammonia? I mean, 3g vs 34g? I feel like, even uncycled they'd be better off. I could even put the HOB on the new one, not that it'll do much being so small, but it might help?

Imo u would leave them in the 3g while cycling the 34. When your ammonia raises, that will still be deadly to the fish and if it raises more where you will have to transfer them back, it will still stress out the clowns. I think it would be safe to cycle the tank without them. I just really don't like cycling with the fish.

I'm going to agree. Since your starting with dry rock your cycle will probably be hard on the nice fish. I would keep them in the 3g until yet 34 is fully cycled. I would not want to put those fish under stress

Dry rock is the way to go, but it takes more time. I wouldn't put the clowns in the tank until its cycled. It'll be very harsh on them. Let me ask you this, would you rather live in a small room with great air quality or live in a warehouse filled with exhaust fumes :)

My concern is more for how good is the water quality in a 3g tank with 2 fish? Not ideal. I have plenty of water to do water changes though. How often do you think I should do it? Every 2-3 days or is that too often? I worry about them in there. The rock I put in there was dry rock I had extra of, they were just huddled in the corner scared in the bare bottom tank so I put it in, which they seem to like. But its certainly not live.

There might be die off from the dry rock you put in. If the biological filtration was established on the hob, I would just use that to prevent spikes from the dry rock. Just add a PVC elbow for clowns to hide in. They should be fine. You might create a cycle by adding the dry rock to a super small tank. Put the dry rock in the tank you will cycle.

Got my RO/DI unit today! Works great. Hooked it up to the sink, at about 60psi, 0tds coming out! BRS you are awesome. Litterally pulled it out of the box, screwed it into my sink and turned it on. Works like a champ. We'll see how long it lasts with the crappy arizona water, but so far so good!

I'm not really sure on how to give advice on the 2 tanks sorry. I've never dealt with dry rock before so I do not want to give out wrong information. As for the rodi from brs that's great that's exactly what I did with mine it was a real breeze. My ro out has been a steady 30 tds for the past 2 months or so. Hopefully you have better water then I do
