Kat's 120g Build Thread

um...well...the rock that i bought off of Greg? Yeah, that's gone. I have some, but will need some tonga and some nice pieces since those were the ones that were gone first.

pssssst....go check out my page...i've been painting again.

gotta brace floor, plumbing, set up sump....then we can do that! dude...let's worry about your tank first!!! lol.

congrats on the tank build! sound like you have a good plan, would like to see how you brace the floor as i have not done it yet :)

Looks good kat you will be up and running fast. I personally think you should do your own stack though. The one you did came out great and you were very proud of it. Your an artistic person let your stack be your canvas hehe it shouldn't take long at all the floor brace is easy if you don't have a finished basement just go to home depot or lowes with really good measurements and have them cut some 4x4's and get some of those metal decking joints or you could use floor jacks but that cost allot more. As far as plumbing if mels doing it you should be done in about 30 or 45 mins its pretty easy in a basement since you don't have to lay on your back and squeeze everything in. Sounds like your ready to fly cant wait to see it come together.

Kat, Pm or text me a good time to stop over and get a look at where the plumbing will be running. With that and finding out what pump you're getting I'll be able to make the "parts" list.

Glad to see you're grabbing the reins and moving with this. ;)

whoa! wow! can you hear me now? you guys sure are a great pep rally team!

as far as the bracing goes, i think we were planning on using the jacks...as an engineer, i tend to be pretty OCD about build cycles...but also considering 4x4 posts...as theater peeps....we tend to be pretty creative and cheap....lol.

this will be the 3rd tank. if i can get what i want going in the basement, i will be adding one more tank which will strictly be for fragging and will incorporate space for that into the basement design. That will be much later on.

Mel, as soon as i get that pantry cleaned out, which should be in the next couple days, i'll give you a call. And thank you so much for all your help and support lately..you really are a great friend.

Jeff, thank you so much for the kind words about my stack....i have had a lot of great comments on it...and that means alot. i think i will give it the good ole college try, but if i screw up, i'm calling in an Ace.

this is all very exciting...pinch me...but not too hard. lol.

that's okay...just everyone keep their eyes and ears open and send peeps my way. gotta tell ya...an empty 120g in my living room and a FULLY STOCKED 90g in the bedroom? i'm gettin' antsy......lmao.

update....

pump, ballast and lights (thanks,Jeff!)

Yay! This is so exciting - the tank is awesome. Great dimensions :)
It'll be fun watching it filled!

PS - sleep?? ever heard of it??

mel just as an fyi the pump is 3/4 in male thread what are you using 1 inch pvc I can see if I have the fitting to convert it over

Jeff if you've got the pump info and can let me know so I can throw some info into the RC calculator that'd be super sweet! If you've got the fitting that'd help but if not I know most pieces are pretty inexpensive. (excluding unions and the like... lol)

Hey, Ms. Eternal Sunshine Mel....should be done with clean out/bracing by Saturday late afternoon.....that's the plan anyway....
