Kaudern's Cardinal Q

Hello! I'd like to buy a (hopefully) breeding pair of Kaudern's cardinals, but have a question. Can I simply order Q=2 of these fish and request a male/female couple, or is this more complicated than that? I read that these fish breed fairly easy in captivity, but I recently saw a 4-fish school of Kaudern's for sale in the Diver's Den, and that got me thinking that maybe these fish need to be purchased in established pairs in order to breed them. Can you shed some light on this for me? Thank you!

Techreef,

Thank you for your excellent question. Unless otherwise listed in the item descriptions, we are unable to guarantee a specific sex for a specimen. Besides frequent changes in availability, much of the livestock we offer are in a juvenile state, making it difficult to accurately determine the gender of a particular fish. To help increase the odds of establishing a breeding pair, we recommend placing an order for 3-4 of the Cardinalfish. This will increase the chances of receiving a male and female.

Sincerely,
Mike S.
