I believe I have this type of worm all over my live rock and now some snails. It grows with a calcerous tube very hard and then forms on rocks mostly, my issue is that i have a colony that came with this thing attached to it and what it touches on the coral is black the coral on top is alive but the base is all black. Anyone have issues with this hard tube worm, I have never seen the actual worm.
I will try to post a pic tonight/

Leslie i dont know exactly what type of worm it is but it likes to grow through my montis and like s to grow on the underside of my LR, like i said above they are hard tubes made most likely of calcium and well the one snail I had it growing on died today, dont know if related? Tying to get a hold of this photobucket thing. Will attempt to post pics!

Those look more like vermetid snails. Do they produce mucus strings? If so, they're harmless although they can rapidly cover most hard surfaces. Some people feel that the mucus strings will annoy corals. The black is something different but it's too fuzzy to tell exactly what.
