keeping a single Anthias

A friend of mine has a very nice large reef tank with several Ignitus Anthias in it. For some reason or another a couple of them have taken to picking on one of the smaller fish (possibly males fighting another male?). He told me I could have it if I want it but I haven't found much info on keeping them solo. Don't they HAVE to be kept in schools? Also is a 68 gallon tank large enough?

I had an individual male Lyretail Anthias until I lost it in a power outage. It was fine. I currenty have two. They were both purchased as females and one has apparently change to male. It should be fine singly.

I agree that it should be fine on its own. Definitely better than being picked on. I have four Ignitus, and they are a fairly small fish. They are quite active, but one in a 68 gallon should be fine.

How does he plan on catching it? :)

Thanks for the info.

"He" doesn’t plan on catching, I mean I’m sure he’ll help me so I don’t mess anything up but it’s a “you catch it, you keep” deal. I dont know the size of his tank but its a pretty good size. The real problem is the placement. Its in his basement with a counter (like a bar counter with stools) built around it. So I dont even know how he gets at it to clean it. Unless the granite is secure enough to stand on. I’ll have to ask. Im going over there this weekend. It should be fun…
