keeping excess live rock

i have several small 1-5lbs pieces and quite a few frag pieces from breaking a larger piece. i've been keeping them in a rubbermaid-style container of about 2 gallons of water from a recent water change. i also have a small airstone in the container that runs on a daily timer cycle w/ my tank lights. i want to keep if for instances of re-aquascaping my small tank.

is there anything else i should do to keep this live rock?

should i put a crab &/or a small snail in w/ it?

If you have space in your sump, put them there instead. Add some macro algea, and you'll have an in-sump fuge. And a very good thing - tons of pods.

I normally keep around 100-150lbs of extra rock for new systems and from systems I've taken down. You really dont necessarily need to add live stock, but I would add a power head to provide circulation and possibly a heater depending on where you keep it. If you decide to add uncured rock you need a protien skimmer or I often use a HOT Marineland filter with just carbon to keep the odor down if the new rock is still cycling. Your choice of container is fine I use the rubbermaid containers all the time.
