Keeping Hanging Pendant Straight?

Ok, is there a trick to this? I have everything lined up correctly but the cord is so heavy that it makes the end with the cord turn towards the wall, which turns the other side towards the front of the tank. Anyone have any ideas.

I hang my cord up on the hook that the pendant is hanging from to level it off

two ideas:

support the cord so that it doesn't pull on the pendant.

space the cables' mount points on the ceiling so that they're farther apart on the ceiling than they are on the pendant. doing that will help to pull the pendant into alignment.
