Keeping it up

Lately I've been having trouble keeping it up, pH that is. My take is 90% SPS. I run a calcium reactor I've checked the pH of the water is coming out of the reactor and it's between 6.9 in 7.5 the pH in the tank at night goes to 7.80 in the daytime with all the lights on I might see 8.0 to 8.05 at the most I would like to see the pH around 820 to 830. I been using kalkwasser about three times a week that brings the pH up but it also raises the alkalinity and that's running between 13 and 16 and I know that's way too high. any suggestions, Phil:deadhorse:

What is your magnesium at? Mine dropped to 1000 and had the same imbalance your are having. After several weeks of raising it up and water changes to lower my alk everything stabilized.

Good morning DV, the magnesium level runs around 13 to 1400 I'm going to continue making H2O changes to see if I can bring the pH back where it belongs. Good morning Kevin SPS does not like low pH. 8 20 to 830 is recommended, that's why am a little concerned thanks for your comment

That pH sounds fine to me. It is very, very rarely worth chasing your pH. IMO, you should chase your alk, ca, mg and let the pH do what its going to do.

Yeah, I understand. But in your case, I wouldn't consider your pH low. That's pretty typical for home aquaria.

If it starts dipping into the 7.5s, then I would express concern.

7.7-8.3 is pretty standard.
