Keeping LPS with SPS

I have a new 150g tank that I am hoping to setup up as mixed reef (LPS and SPS almost entirely). My light system is the Orbit Marine PRO Dual LED.

I would like to know if I should have concerns in advance about keeping these types of corals together given their different lighting requirements. Is it enough to keep certain corals lower in the tank and others higher to provide for the different lighting requirements?

Here is my current list of desired corals:

SPS:
Seriatopora (Birds nest coral) - Pink - High Lighting
Montipora Capricornis
Montipora digitata
Stylophora spp.

LPS:
Acanthastrea (Acan Brain Coral)
Catalaphyllia (Elegance Coral)
Euphyllia (Hammer and Frogspawn)

Thanks so much for any advice!

Trying to keep a similar tank. Mostly SPS but I have a few torch & hammer corals as well. So far it is very difficult to keep my flow up & find a spot that is more calm for the LPS.

Bump for your thread.

Hey there, I'm not an expert by any means as my tank's only 18mos old, but my reef pretty much meets the definition of "mixed" as I have about as many LPS colonies as SPS. :D Sorry about the crappy iPhone pic, but *hopefully* you can see that most of the SPS are up top except for Monti's down a bit, and the LPS are down in sand and off on the sides; there's also a handful of gorgonians and a big leather to boot

So far everyone's growing great and getting along fine under 5 80W T5's (mix of ATI bulbs). Getting the proper flow areas for the torch, hammers, etc was harder and required several moves over many months to find a place they liked. Anyway, Good luck!

Judging your desire list I don't see any reason that you can at all. Look at SouthFla's tank looking great. You need to play with the rocks work and placement of the corals. Good luck
