Kenya Tree Question

Not Likely 2 Ever Grow Up
So, we bought our first (non-frag) coral this past weekend - a purple Kenya Tree. I'm concerned because it hasn't extended its polyps. We've had it since Saturday. Should i be concerned?

Hard to get really good picture - since it's purple it kinda blends in with the coralline algae behind it. Thanks in advance.

Just give it a little time- is should be "blossoming" before you know it. They are so easy to keep and make happy.

We Have Poylps!

The polyps finally decided to show themselves!

Almost all of them are open tonight. Its cool - the polyps are pinkish and the trunk stays purple - like psychadelic broccoli! Looks like it is just finishing a shed/molt (like my toadstool leather does from time to time).

Wait till it starts dropping branches all over your tank and reproducing like a weed. I got one the size of a fingernail. It grew to the size of a softball and made about 200 frags of itself. I ended up bleaching the parent when I took down my 75. Neat looking coral, though.

I have kenya in both my tanks. Does great in my cube dropping tons of frags. The water in my cube has more nutrients is my guess. In my 56 the water is cleaner and the don't seem to extend like they used too. Also in my 56 is a coral beauty who loves this stuff, nipping it constantly. Keep an eye on any angels, not just kenya with every kinda coral.

Just ordered a frag rack and plugs so I'll be ready, should it start to drop branches. Now I can stop glueing things to shells!

Our Blackspot Angel hasn't shown any interest in any of our corals - but she does have a strange habbit of nipping at bubbles on things. Very strange.
