I ordered some of the slight diffusers and I will slowly set the lights to 200 PAR or so. I can get more fish sooner than later.
Should I put some more red and green into the light settings? This all started because I wanted some advice on settings.
I can certainly see that my nutrients are too low and that was something I was worried about when this started and why I have been more hands off the past few months. I can also increase the amount of Reef Energy I dose or change it to daily.
This system I have used a bit of MarinePure with balls in the overflow and some bricks in the sump. I have zero algae issues which is another sign of the low nutrients.
Set the red and green only just until you see the color improvement you want. Red and green have zero impact to coral health period. The only reason to have them at all is to balance some colors for the viewer, that's it. Set it just until you see the improvement, no reason to set it any higher than that.
I run green at 20% and my reds 20-30%
I have used reef energy and works well for ULNS, and I love my MarinePure blocks.
Good luck

We do know that coral responds best to ligh wavelengths of about 400nm "“ 500nm and 630nm -700nm. Different literature sources provide different ranges so these numbers as reasonable approximations. These cover the blue, indigo, violet colors on one end of the spectrum and red on the other. For those of you that really want to understand why... it has to do with the absorbtion bandwith of chlorophyll which the zooxanthellae use for photosynthis. We also know that the green, yellow, orange light in the middle of this range have little to no value to coral (even though the human eye tends to see green -yellow the best).
No, I don't know that these wavelengths are of "little or no value" to the corals. I'll say they have little or nothing to do with photosynthesis. But they may, and probably are important to the corals production of color pigments which protect the coral and make them colorful to our eyes. It isn't all about zooxanthellae and photosynthesis.
Thanx to Ron your the encyclopedia of reef central!
Here is Kessil response to my email requesting the desktop beta:
"Hello Aaron,
Thank you for your email and interest in the beta program. We have put you on our list to become a tester. The beta firmware is currently being updated and we will be sending out the link for it soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding. "
Sound like it's not ready yet but they will email me as soon as it is.

Yep, same reply.
Pre-orders ended a year ago at this point, so it's near 11-1/2 months of retail release.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.![]()
Yea, you know I am happy with the light but Kessil really dropped the ball on this one big time. If they had not had the app control questions, uncertainty, and issues the AP700 would have really taken off by this point in sales. The light it's self is just fantastic! I still don't see anything to beat it now or future soon.

I'm getting close to setting up my lights in my canopy, now I'm wondering if someone like you who has ran the light since (I believe you said January) sorry if that's incorrect but anyway, a newbie like me is going to have way more problems with it? You had a lot of time to use it play around with settings and intensity and such, yet you love the light but dislike the app that lets you really use it to its full potential.
i think the biggest mistake they made was not putting kessil logic and/or some equivalent to it on this thing. that way people struggling with the app would have had the option to just go do their own thing, even if it doesn't give as much control and just emulates the curves of the a160/a360

Intensity does ramp, color doesntThe light dose have Kessil logic. You can control the light just fine with the buttons but you cannot program it to ramp or stuff like that. The app also uses Kessil logic also.
