Kessil AP 700 Owners Gather Here!

Pulled the trigger on the ap700 today. Buddy of mine wanted radions and I couldn't pass up the deal he offered. The AP700 will be replacing the two 160we's on my Red Sea reefer 250.

Nice dude! :D I'll be picking your brain for settings as you'll be up and running before I will be. I still have a stand to build...

I have my 160's mounted to a 8020 mount I made, going to use it for the ap700. May eventually hang it from the ceiling.

On a side note I'm running the RAIN2 on my setup. It's a nice scrubber!

I think one AP 700 will nicely match your tank. Many people try to stretch it by running it on a 4 foot tank, but 36" is right along the recommended length.

I'll be putting the Rain2 through its paces before I add it to my system as I've got 40 lbs of Pukani from BRS coming on Monday. So we'll see how well it grows GHA as it sits in a curing vat.

So update on my tank. I'm pretty sure the paleness is from the lack of nutrients. I used to dose nopox and I have had pale colors since I've set this tank up. With the fish load in my tank had been kinda low so I totally discontinued nopox for the time being. I have been dosing pot nitrate food grade but i have increased the dosing and have tripled my feeding. I also added 4 more fish to my tank and I'm hoping this will help get the colors back and stop them from stn from base up. Only 1 coral is doing this at the moment but I think it came to a head for me with this one coral. Nopox is incredibly potent! I have nitrates at 16 ppm now and po4 at 0.03 ppm. Funny thing is I have no gfo running and phosphate is pretty low, I assume that's due to dosing nitrate. I have also lessened the intensity on my ap700s to 38% max for 4 hours. I figure it can't hurt to drop anything that is a possible stressor. I'll keep it at 38 for a week and start over increasing 1% weekly. I was at 49% at max time period. Again. I would say that those who use nopox better have a large fish load or feed constantly haha.

Ok, so I had a 2 hour power outage yesterday, after the power came back on, the lights came back on, but I guess the time in the lights is off, so it's not the correct scheduled times. I tried connecting to the app again and everything was responsive within the app, but nothing on the lamps were applied. I reset the app itself and restored the settings from the cloud, but still no go.

I'm getting tired of constantly hard resetting these things. I know I can just reset them with [down] and [+] buttons and unplug them for 10 seconds, but I'm getting tired of doing this. Did I do something wrong?? Or are there still bugs with respect to restoring settings during a power outage?

Everything is running on the latest firmware/app.

Usually you should just log back into the app and the "internal clock" should be reset.

Anyone else fiddling with the red/green? I was just looking at it and 20/20 looks pretty good but not sure I want to switch the nice blue color.

So, I got a great deal on a lightly used AP 700 and decided to put it over my Fusion 20 tank. =X I know, super overkill, but I couldn't pass it up. So my issue is that there is no easy way to mount the lights. If I buy the kessil mounts, the feet that grasp on the tank land right between the glass baffles in the back of the tank, so it's not really possible using the legs to mount the fixture. The only thing that I saw that may work is a center mount where the mount connects to the middle of the fixture around the fan, but that was a custom made project done by someone.

The only way I can think of mounting the fixture would be using conduit and bending it into shape. But I'd like to know if anyone has any better ideas or something that they have seen that worked.

Below is a picture on top of the tank for reference (a bad one). You can sort of see how the screws line up with the back of the tank. There is no way I can fit the legs on straight on the back since the baffles are in the way.

Also, can use the kessil mount to attach the legs to the center screws between the fan? Seems like they're at the same distance as the outer screws.

Yes, you can use the Kessil mounts and mount them using the screws around the fan.

Thanks. I just installed this beast over my Fusion 20 with a jerry-rigged mount. lol Waaay overkill, but I couldn't help the good deal and the idea of using this fixture on a larger tank in the future. I just love the natural look and shimmer on the kessil. It takes me back to my MH days.

I'm running the light from 1% to a peak of around 15%. lol

I'll post some pics later.

I use red/green to balance my white look

Peak hours is like yours 20/20, I also use 2 ATI Blue Plus T5s and feel the added white helps balance it.

I've been running two coral+ and am considering switching them for Blue+. Do you run your fixture on the whiter side given you use Blue+?

The Coral Plus has this purple/violet hue to it that makes things in my tank too purple. Bumping up the white in the AP 700 makes it worse and so does increasing the blue. Lol So I'm considering a switch.

I like having two Blue+, though have considered a white bulb like the Aqua Blue. I find it's easier to add some white but my display definitely has a lot of blue.
Kessil only mid morning
