Kessil AP 700 Owners Gather Here!

Unfortunately no, I did all that and it semi worked. Only thing is the program I tested ran but never shut off. Going nuts with this. Sending them back to get replacements. Grrrrrr

If you tell me what you would like i could build that program for you and take screen shots, might help someone else someday too.

Spoke to the tech at kessil and they are working on the issue. For some reason the unit just have a hard time connecting to the router directly.

Funny, the only way I get mine to work is on my wifi, what I am noticing is that it seems to be messing up my wifi in the rest of the house. Anyone else experiencing that?

Thought I would share I little more info on my setup.

2- 5 foot ati 4 bulb standard power module
Bulb combo is per fixture
2 blue plus
1 purple plus
1 coral plus

The AP700 are in the center. ATI's are front and rear.

Started off around 60% at first... Burned a lot of corals
Dropped to 30% and raised 5% per month.
I max my ap700 at 60% as of now.
And as far as red/green. I only add a little in the morning and evening. All midday is standard kessil color settings.
Thinking of taking it up again once I balance the tank a little more.

Why is your program only a couple hours long?

Almost done with the floating canopy for my AP700 and 4x T5. Those are 3x Noctua NF-P14 Redux 140mm fans which will be controlled by my Apex. The center fan will be blowing cold air into the fan of the AP700 so I doubt the built-in light fan will fire as much as those puppies are designed for static pressure. The fans on corners are for exhaust so not much heat will be flowing down towards the water.

The arm is a monoprice full motion TV mount rated for 77lbs.

Also installing a Neutrik USB feedthrough connector in the back of the canopy for super easy firmware updates.

I need fans like that for humidity in my sump, are those fans good for that, also how did you get the holes so perfect (5.5" hole saw drill bit or router?)

Forgot to also mention that the nf-p14 are static pressure fans as I have stuff in front of them. If the fans in your sump won't be obstructed by anything then you can go with regular airflow fans like the Noctua nf-s12. Redux fans are cheaper and also look cooler with the gray but they don't come with the extras the regular noctuas come with like reduced voltage cables.

I connect directly to my AP700 with my iPhone, not had any issue.

Hey man thanks so much. I just ordered my jig on line from Lee Valley tools. Free delivery and I'll have it by Wednesday 37.50 CDN. So those fans will be okay with the salt water evap? I will prob put two fans pulling air out and one drawing in. Or will I need two of each. My stand isn't completely air tight. What about power source as I need to remove the doors that I will be putting these on. Are they hard wired or can I put the ac from the fan itself. Anyone know of a battery style so I don't have to plug them in at all?

Thinking of a new light what is biggest advantage of ap700? Costing a pair of hydra 26 and 700 is about the same, what about the 360 unit in comparison?

You will need a 12v power supply. As for the salt evap since humidity will remain a lot lower inside the sump area because of the fans they should last you a bit. Each fan will require .1a or so. So if you do 3-4 fans you will need minimum a 12v 500ma power supply which can be had on amazon for cheap.

The fans don't come with a power supply?

Can you post a pic of the fans plugged in so I can see how they're wired? I might do two side panels that remain on the stand to house the fans on each end of the tank. Will I need a fan drawing in air and one pulling air out do you think? If so, one end pulling in and other end blowing out? Or should I just have a fan at each end drawing air out?

What's the biggest advantage for getting ap700? On fence and only info is sales

Pitch

Even illumination due to the reflectors. It had much more even spread compared to 2 A360we. Also adds red n green independently controllable LEDs.

I am considering a used ap700 and wondering if there is a born on date on the box? Owner claims a few months of use but not sure how to reel age
Thanks

Please explain why adding Red and green matters. Most say that you'll never need it. I only ask as I am unaware of the benefits.

It doesn't. Not to corals anyway.

But 1 of the main criticisms of Kessil lights was that it was too blue. So they added red n green so people who like to see more red n green in there corals can dial it up.

Green doesn't matter to corals but it matters to our eyes. Green/lime/mint diodes make the tank look brighter to our eyes which is one of the main thing people complain about LEDs that they don't look "bright enough".

Red can affect some coral pigments and while it's better to have red spectrum combined with a warm white diode vs pure red with the dense matrix array it takes care of color banding.
