Kessil AP 700 Owners Gather Here!

APEX wifi will take a dump at times if you have the hybrid AES/TKIP setting enabled for your WPA2 radio. Something most with problems overlook.

Yes, took me some time to figure that one out.

When I spoke about port forwarding I was making a general statement about ensuring the third part device (the router) was configured correctly.

Setting up a Red Sea reefer 350 ~47"x20"x21". I've been entertaining the idea of running the ap700 but it seems there are a lot of connectivity and program issues with this fixture..I'm sure this is an awesome fixture IF no problems arise. Did anyone of you guys currently with this light run 360we's prior? My other option will be 2 360we. If you guys could, would you go back to the 360s to save all the headache?

When in doubt.. run both [emoji16][emoji106] seriously though once your frags grow into colonies, shadowing becomes a problem [emoji34]

I have a 60 length by 30 width by 24 deep inches tank. do I need 2 of these end to end and not worry about the 6 inches of coverage in width? does it matter? Or do I need 3?

Here's mine. 60/28/28.

Tank will be sps dominant and I will hang 3.
The 2 currently will be turned 90deg. Third will be parallel in the center.

Third is over my temp tank right now.

That is a great looking tank. I think you run into that problem with all single point lights. Only T5s really don't have that little flaw.

Thanks. I agree. I'm also at fault for creating a scape that is difficult to properly illuminate. I tore the tank down a couple of months ago and moved it (changed the scape) Now I'm running T5 with a plan for a Kessil A160 on each end just for viewing enjoyment.

I love T5s too, when my tank grows out and I have those problems I'll just add a few to my AP700s. You could have done the same but I'm sure you thought of that.

Do you have any good suggestions for T5s that are easy to put alongside an AP700? I have my AP700 on the arm mounts and I'm not sure the best way to go about adding T5.

This is the best option I have found to date, I've looked pretty hard. I've heard of some actually useing Kessil arm mounts to mount lights like this with Kessil lights. I'll do that with two 60" of those fixtures or get a canopy. I'll decide when I get to that point. Still have a lot of coral growth to go. The problem with my tank is that I have a wide large double glass brace in the center, it blocks a lot of light, the T5s should help a lot with that, but for now I don't mind have a two island aquascape and put my lights at each end.

Sounds like your post was supposed to include a link or picture but it didn't show up.

Yes, I actually did that, but a couple of T5s wasn't enough unfortunately. That's why I decided to go with an 8 bulb fixture that gives me fantastic coverage. I miss the color that the AP700 provides, but it's sitting in my closet for a future tank..maybe an LPS only tank..

You can mount the fixture a little higher I found and helps dramatically with some shading and doesn't decrease PAR at all really, in my case I just need to raise it a few inches.

Yeah I know.. I played with it for a year. It was still not possible to reduce shadowing of my larger SPS colonies. I think the biggest limitation is that the pucks are only 12" apart. Ultimately T5 was my only option.

Haha I'm a long ways from that so for the time being, I'm just going to run 2 360w's. Then when time comes maybe I'll add an ap700.

Your tank looks awesome!

Thanks. You really can't go wrong with either choice. Took my corals about a year to shadow themselves enough to result in tissue loss at which point I decided to try T5

You will be amazed at what happens to your tank running the ap700 with t5's.
The growth you get is insane. I run the combo. On the same system I run m80 radium/vho with a 360 and the growth is nowhere close. Only variable I can see is water flow and depth of tank. Mh/vho/360 is a 12" tall tank vs the ap700/t5 300dd tank.

Just curious can the 700 be linked in with the A360 for control
Thru the apex
