Kessil AP 700 Owners Gather Here!

Hey all.

I am pretty much decided on going with this fixture for my next build.

I see that Kessil says that two of these will cover my 48"x48" footprint, but wanted to just confirm with you all that you agree before I pull the trigger.

Thanks.

I have a 48x24x24 120 gallon and I have two without any t5 supplement and it's perfect coverage. It seems most of us that are using ap700 have raised up the fixture for better spread. You may need to raise it up to around 14-15 inches for more spread on that type of cube tank.

I am planning to hang 18" from the surface. The water depth is only 18", so I expect that'll be okay.

Thanks.

I’m starting up a new 180 60x24x25. I have two ap700 at 10” over the surface and am getting about 174 par at the sand bed. This tank will mainly be sps with a few lps at the sand bed. 13 hour photo period with a 4 hour peak at 100%. Been acclimating my corals as I’ve been adding them.

I don’t have any T5 supplementation however I do have two Hydra 26 lights I have been thinking about adding to supplement the middle section. Basically move the ap700s to the edge and fill in the middle with the hydras.

One thing I really wish for is a better app experience. I can not believe how poorly the app for these lights functions. I can never get these lights to stay in sync (clocks) nor stay connected (both of them) to the app. I fire up the app and after the long wait time to find the lights, the app 85% of the time only finds one.... frustrating from such a great hardware manufacture....

Hello

Brand new reefer here. Over 25 years doing marine fish.

Just got a 120 gallon decorated it and now it is in cycle. (yes with a fish sorry)

ap700 and a orbit 58" LCD on the tank now

can anyone tell me are u really supposed to mount the ap700 front to back i have it across
and can anyone tell me what is the best light settings to start with once i put my first animals

also if i was to add any more lights what would u suggest with the 2 lcd units I have now

someone told me 2 tuna's but they are costly and I dont mind the money but I want to put what looks and works best

Thanks

also can anyone point me to a thread that will help show where u should place things top to bottom for the light they need or does it not work this way

this is my progress so far

Anyone running the AP700 on an IM lagoon 50? Trying to guage best height and intensity for softy/LPS tank. Currently 12" over water at 35% intensity. But a ton of light spill. When I get closer it seems to cook the coral.

I am doing the same as you 12 inches of the surface on my IM 50 at 35%. There is light spill but I don't want to place lower this light is powerful

how should i set the light settings to start with

120 gallon
1 ap700
1 current orbit marine 48"

I have 2 on a 60" tank. 9 hours of light, 5 max at 71%. 9 inches off water. PAR 8 inches below water line is only about 240.

I'm sure this has already been answered has anyone else ran into issues with they're kessil light mounts touching water surface? I ysed the plastic mount it came with to raise the light to stop it from happening but it's still annoying and makes the mount less stable.
