Key Islamorada/ Key Largo

I'm going on vacation down to the Florida keys and will be spending most of my time in Key Islamorada and Key Largo. I've got a few Snorkeling charters planned already, but does anyone have any suggestions on Snorkeling spots accessible from Shore?

Looking for a couple good Surf Fishing spots too if anyone could help.

I have been there many times. Most of the interesting dive spots are a couple of miles out. The fishing is also best a few miles away from the docks/shore. You can catch snapper around almost any structure/rocks. Lobster can be found around most docks. My suggestion is to find a small boat rental and go exploring. Also, I can't remember the name of the marina but there is one where you can hand feed Tarpon. You should not miss this because it is quite an experience. If you rent a boat please be aware of special rules in place in the Keys because fines are quite expensive for anchoring or running aground in the wrong place.

Robbies is the name of the Marina to hand feed the Tarpon. It is worth the stop. With no boat you are best to snapper fish the bridges.

There is boat rentals out of Snake Creek Marina which is where i keep my boat. Going out of there you are within a few minutes of Hen and Chicken Shoal which is an unbelievable reef. Every time you go you will see tarpon cruising the bottom. Good for novice snorkelers since its only around 15 feet deep but the corals come up withing 4-5 feet of the surface. Lots of big fish since its a no take zone.

Your also a few miles from Alligator reef which has a pretty cool light house. The kids enjoy that one.

The best part is that you just around the corner from the Islamorada sandbar.

There is nothing you can really swim to from shore that is worth wile to snorkel.

PM me if you need help or any suggestions. Good luck.
