I bake for 1 hour at 300F because that's what Randy Holmes-Farley suggests here: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php#5

2dawghouse New member Feb 21, 2017 #7 You can but sodium carbonate off ebay at 5lbs for about $12 and no need to bake it. Not sure of the purity, especially when using washing soda.
