KH question

WetWebMedia suggests that the level of 7-12 is recommended. I switched to Tropic Marin awhile back to see what it has to offer, pretty happy with it I think. What I have noticed, not sure if it is relevent to the salt mix or not. Everytime I test it always measures at 6 dKh, PH tests right at 8.3 every time. Suggested solutions? Causes? I tried to look at WetWebMedia for answers, but I'd go blinf before I read everything they have on that site...

Which TM salt are you using? I was talking to Scott at ET last night about the two different types and, as someone who used to use it, he told me somthing I didn't know. The Reef Pro salt is designed for use with a Calcuim Reactor and without it the alk will be a little low. If that is what you are using I would switch to their Sea Salt.

I did try the Reef Pro. Reason I ask now, I just used the last of the box I bought and I have to pick up some more salt mix here in the next few days. Maybe I will try out their sea salt to see it it helps. Thanks for the info.

I've always been happy with the results of the PH test, 8.2-8.3. Its just the alk that I'd like to get back up a little.

Use the regular tropic marin then. The Pro is for calcium reactor users, and people that wish to keep the alk at NSW levels of 6-7.
The regular TM salt will keep the alk higher. I have used some kent superbuffer dkh and that will bring it right up for you till you use up all the pro and get the regular.

I just did my last WC with the pro salt. My next WC will be done probably this Sunday night. What about the Reef Builder from SeaChem? I was given about a half jar of it awhile back and have never done anything with it.

that should be fine, just go slow! don't panic and raise it too fast that will be bad, just go slow because you are at natural seawater level right now so it's not bad, just don't get too worried and go too fast.
