Killer Mystery Wrasse

So my mystery wrasse has developed a taste for cleaner shrimp. I wasn't sure how it died, but then saw the shrimp with it's front legs/claws all picked a part. The wrasse also harassed my tailspot to death as well. So lucky me, I've got an extremely shy but aggressive mystery wrasse.

What's the opinion of adding a coral banded shrimp? or will this be a crap shoot too?

Its a bull/male. Good luck adding anything. Bulls can be very mean and goes for many wrasse species.

I would expect with time the cb shrimp to become lunch as well.

Yeah, shrimp are just food for the mystery wrasse now, that's my experience.

I always thought the mystery was why they weren't named a$$hole wrasses in the first place.

Part of the most violent sub species of wrasses and they are guaranteed shrimp/crab killers.

I have a male hoevens wrasse that has grown huge and I'm constantly afraid this same scenario will play out. I had a cleaner before adding him that disappeared awhile after . I've since added a blood and another cleaner with no issues.......yet. I have been feeding more mysis for the hoevens while he is out and so far so good.

mine did/does the same thing. it was some expensive food until i figured it out. i love the cleaner shrimp so much but i can spend $30 each day for food. my other wrasses were/are not being blamed. heheh

Yeah. I was annoyed because I slightly over feed my tank to prevent this.
