Killing acro-eating redworms with dog de-wormer?

So I noticed some of my acroporas were not doing so hot. Upon close inspection I discovered they were covered with redbugs. I tried using a coral dip but it did not work. After some research and talking to more experienced saltwater aquarium owners I have decided to try Interceptor (MILBEMYCIN OXIME). However, Interceptor has been discontinued so I ordered another de-wormer that has Milbemycin Oxime as well as two other ingredients ( lufenuron and praziquantel). I plan to dose my 120 gallon tank but I need to know what effects, if any, lufenuron and praziquantel will have on creatures in my tank. I know I need to remove my shrimp and crabs because milbemycin oxime will kill them but should I also remove things like my brittle stars, serpent stars, bubble tip anemone, tuxedo urchin, clam?

what kind of dip did you use? I think Bayer is the most popular one for dipping acros. Also, interceptor was replaced by sentinel

I used Seachem reefdip. I know, I purchased Sentinel but it has those other two ingredients in it so I need to find out what reactions they may cause in my marine life

Sounds like you ordered the newer version of Sentinel that also kills tapeworms in dogs. I have heard the old Sentinel with lufenuron (flea birth control) and milbemycin oxime (to prevent heart worms, whipworms, hookworms and roundworms) works as well as Interceptor and is safe (I have never personally used it) but not sure about adding praziquantel (for tapeworms in dogs) to the mix. The new sentinel is a chew tablet designed to be more palatable so there may be more ingredients in it for that as well.
hth, Chris
