Kilz and polyurethane for inside of canopy

I am rebuilding my current canopy and looking for a little help. On my current canopy I used three coats of polyurethane on the inside to seal it. On the new canopy the local fish store recommended using two coats of Kilz and then top coating the Kilz primer with polyurethane on the inside of the canopy. They said it would help reflect the light better. Does anyone agree with the LFS or should I just stick with polyurethane?

Flat white is the most reflective...that is true.. Doesn't need to be any specific brand..
However if you arent using t5 or mh or any other fixture that has light spread out enough to justify it then it really doesnt matter..

I prefer oil based gloss white on the inside of my hood and stand... the gloss cleans up nicely and the oil based is great for water protection - just sucks to apply and wait for it to dry and clean-up

I think the Kilz + Poly is mostly to be as a mold inhibitor due to the humidity that can get up in the canopy.

That said, if you are using T5s or MH lighting I absolutely would recommending getting proper reflectors there will be a world of difference between simply painting your canopy white.
