Kimberlee's dive into insanity

It occurred to me that I have never done a tank thread here, and maybe it was about time to do so. My tank has gone through great transformation over the 4 years I've been part of this hobby, and I even saved it from total crash, managing to come out w/ a sps tank.

So lets start. When I got my first set up going I made all the noob mistakes.....tank was too narrow, cheap skimmer and other equipment. Lighting that wasn't what I wanted and never would be. All these things led to the crash, I am lucky that it took 3 years. I can say I was able to step back and see everything I had done,(or not done) that led to a crash.

I have more than one system, so I was able to move 95% of my livestock to more stable tanks. So that is what I did, while I re did my main tank.

Here is what I ended up w/.

I needed more flow, so we added 2 koralia 1400's and put them on a smart wave. Should take a sec to mention this is a 40B, so we now have enough flow for quite some time.

Six months before this I had switched my T-5 lighting for a 250 halide. Bad idea, too much heat was a big factor in the crash. Six moths latter I switched again to LED's which I am very happy w/.

Other things changed were the skimmer and the aquascaping.

Anyway after a month of my livestock being in other tanks, I found the nerve to start moving things back to the re done set up.

Well there's this and the nano forum, if this could be moved to the proper forum...that would be great as I must of missed the right forum.

What is a 40B? 40g bowfront?
Refers to the measurement configuration on a "standard" aquarium size.

40B = 40 gallon breeder tank = 36"L x 18"W x 16"T, 458 pounds when filled

Is that a blonde naso in the opening post's second picture? The 'after' shot?

Yes temp home until the 135 is cycled. Don't worry if he was stressed AT ALL, he would be in at friend down the streets bigger tank. As it is he was bigger then he was suppose to be when sent to me, and I'm just glad I already had a bigger set up almost ready. He wont be in there any longer than he would QT, and the back of the rock work is open, giving more room than it looks like is there.
