this is kind of a stupid questionbut here goes-on my new tank i going to put a couple 3in cokputer fans along the back of the canopy. But do i want the fans to blow air in over the water or pull the hot out from about the water. Does it matter or is one better.
thanks
I've heard that sucking air out can shorten the life of the fan (no personal experience on that) because it will get more salt deposits and what not. I hear of lots of people doing one blowing in and one sucking air out.

IF the fans blows towards it. And there is a lid on the the front ( if the fan is in the back) then there will be alot of condensation on the lid. Which will lead to salt creep. IF that makes sense, not a big deal just wanted to let you know.
I just use the $7 clip on type fans from Menards. I take off the clip part and attach them to my canopy with large zip ties. They are quiet and they move a lot of air.
Best of all, when they go bad, it's only $7 bucks to replace them locally.
If you want to put a piece of glass under your lights you can run a push pull method and move more air without ruining your fans. You can also just put a fan blowing on the sump.
I hear the cokputer fans run longer than normal ones anyway though. Ok sorry for the smarta@@ comment.
But seriously, ive found blowing the fan towards the lights keeps the temp cooler then blowing it out, but then..i only have one fan.
