as of now i'm getting over a gallon a day of evaporation...

will all the moisture being displaced into the air eventually take a toll on my A/C unit?

As long as the evaporator coils don't freeze and the drains (in the A/C) stay open, it should be fine. I would be more concerned as to why you are losing ~2% of your tank volume per day.

That amount of evaporation isn't bad and nearly expected on a tank that size depending on the environment the tank is in. FWIW, I lose about 2-2.5 gallons per day on my 29g tank. That's 6-8% per day :)

I don't think 1 gal is going to really be an issue, but then again I am not an AC expert. I lose up to 5 gals a day depending on time of year.

Yes and no.

The AC will have to work extra hard to rid the house of the moisture.

They are designed for this, you live in florida, so I assume your AC is used to plenty of moisture.

My 150 gets ateast 2-3 gallons per day evap, I havent noticed any problems yet but I just replaced my ac and heater unit last year. I put a catnip plant out by the AC drain for the neighborhood cats.

Every couple of years you might want to go in and scrape the water drain/condensor thingy. You dont want it to freeze up on you from dirt buildup.

thanx everyone,

i just moved back in with the parents, and this is a concern of my dad's... being they just purchased a new unit and he doesn't want my hobby ruining his home...

but he's slowly catching the marine virus, i expect in a couple months he will build his own aquarium...

haha
