Kiss Lighting?

Currently have 4 X 65 W Power Compact and would like to upgrade to accomodate some hard corals and improve the environment for the softies now housed.

My tank is 48 X 18 X 26 (110g)

It seems the choices are T-5 or MH and the debate is interesting!

Don't want to spend a fortune, and do not want to hang from ceiling.

I've read about this and think it may be a good choice for this newbie.

Thanks for your input!

They aren't bad fixtures at all. Pretty well built. Comes with hanging hardware and tank trim mounting legs. If you go for it, you probably would be best served with the 250 watt version. I had/have the 150 watt version on a 90 that is only 18 inches deep or so with the Pelnum and DSB. With 26" of depth, 250 watt is a much better choice. The stock bulbs, both T5 and HQI are Chinese made, not the best but definitely usable. Upgrade to better ones when it comes time to put in new bulbs. Biggest drawback is probably the very small halide reflectors. They probably dont optimize the light output from the halides. But that is a common thing with most combo fixtures. Most use smaller than "normal" reflectors. There almost always are compromises that are made when working within the size contratints of packing all the lamps into a combo fixture. The T5's do have individual reflectors in these unlike the Nova extreme fixtures, although not the best. Again, going with a larger / wider individual reflectors for the T5's is limited by size constraints. But they are effective fixtures that output a good deal of light. And the moonlights are very, very cool. You can do better, but for more money. Quite a few people on the board seem to have these fixtures and seem happy with them. I really like mine but had always planned on a DIY combo canopy that I am finally finishing up.
