Kleins Butterfly

I have 2, one I collected in Nov of 06 and the other last Oct. They live in a FOWLR and a few motile inverts. They eat anything I feed, frozen and dry. They are one of the easiest butterfly I have ever kept, I have them with flame wrasse, disappearing wrasse several sp of pygmy angels, atlantic longnose butterfly and lightning wrasse. My water parameters are all within normal range, but I have high nitrates. Maintenence is normal, water changes and rinsing the filter pads. Lighting is flourescent only. Not sure what else I can tell you, but if you have specific questions, post them and if I can answer I will.

Been using them for years.

Mainly in clients tanks after numerous attempts to Joe's Juice every two week have failed.

Recently added one to my 300G growout tank with aptasia's and it has been a model citizen. I have lots of SPS, LPS, clams and zoa's with no damage for over two months.

I read Matt's article in hard copy. It was a nice piece. Too bad I have a copperband ;) I am lucky as I am still aiptasia free.

Matt, let me know if that link still isn't working, and I'll direct you to another source.

It's only that page of the mag that doesn't work for me, on work/home machines. The second half and all other pages work fine. Odd.

Mine picked on my sps, but was pretty easy to feed. I'd say it just depends on the luck of the pick.

I just got two kleins last week. while they are eating the Aiptasia (at least the smaller ones), they are also picking at most of my SPS. so my question is... how much "picking" can a SPS coral take before it starts to go downhill?

I had to take all the frogspawn out of my tank because that's what he was picking at

He killed a head to

mine haven't gone after the frogspawn yet, just singled out a few acro colonies. I am hoping it doesn't kill off the colony. I am going to get something to attach to the glass and put the acro colonies on that so then maybe I can net the offending fish when it comes to dine on them....

The first one I picked up about a year ago from my LFS went straight for Digi's as soon as I acclimated it into tank.
Last week I gave it another try with one from Aquarium Concepts and so far only rock/aptasia nipping.

I have only one of them now in a 300g and it keeps the Aiptasia under control for sure. It does nip at some SPS, mainly the "fuzzy" ones, but haven't seen any ill effects yet, just that they tend to stay closed up during the day. The SPS do still extend their polyps at night to feed though.
