kliens butterfly

Nothin?

My lfs has one and told me it should be ok but it might eat zoas of similar corals but since I dnt have any zoas or anything like it I care about that wnt bother me so much as long as it takes the majano with it. Lol

Well, I can only speak about our local ones...many reefers have bought them specifically for that purpose and they do eradicate majanos. So that - coupled with their hardiness - is the good news.

Bad news is once the pest anemones are gone they will most likely take an interest in assorted corals, especially anything meaty.

hth and good luck!

Thanks man you seem to be the only one with expieriance with one. Lol

120 ReeferMaddness,

Not sure about the kleins, however, I know that my friend put a Chaetodon ulietensis (double saddleback) and it cleaned out the majano for him. He had a 180 reef.

Afterwards, it never touched any SPS however, some zoos. Now he kept the fish well fed afterwards. This was eleven months and he had to move so not long term.

Nicer fish in my opinion.

Good luck.
Cheers,
Bruce

I had a kleins. Amazing fish. I have a few soft corals GSP, various polyps, Xenia. If you feed this fish well and keep algae sheets in the aquarium MOST if not ALL of the time you will not have to worry about them eating corals. You have to make the fish realize that you are the source of food, not ambient things in the water. The only reason I ditched mine was because him and my kole tang went at it often. I like my kole better unfortunatley for the butterfly.

IME Klein's will not touch Majano spp. anemones

every fish is different... a search of RC on this question will reveal a wide range of responses to this specific question

I've kept these before and used them where i worked to eradicate aiptasia. They were very good at that job and manjano's would also be eaten on the rare occurance that one was found. Sps were left well alone after but zoas were a definite favourite as were most soft corals which makes up part of their natural diet. Sps on the other hand "in theory" are more safe. Nice hardy species though but i'd look at one of the pyramid butterflies if you are keeping lps or softies in there as well.
