Knee surgery did not go so well.

I gave in and called the surgeon's office. Hopefully someone will get around to calling me back so I can schedule an appointment to get it checked out.

Is the swelling still as bad as it was? The lawyer would be the furthest thing from my mind, first figure out what the crap is going on. My wife is a RN and she thought you should get it looked at asap too.

I haven't even considered getting a lawyer, that's not the type of person I am. As long as everything works out then I will be happy.

I will be seeing the surgeon tomorrow morning. I just hope that he doesn't just blow me off and dismiss it as being normal. I will have a tough time believeing it is normal considering that I just had a similar procedure done two months ago, that one was supposed to be more difficult sense there was three procedures done that time and only two done this time.

The swelling has gone down some but it is still pretty swollen.

Well it is good to hear the swelling has gone down some but glad to hear you are getting it checked out. Best of luck in the morning...keep us informed.

Thought I would give a quick update. I just went for my first physical therapy session for my knee. When I got there they immediately looked at my knee, asked me a couple of questions, then told me that they could not give me therapy yet. They said that at this point it would be worthless to try and could possibly do harm to it. They also said that they had never seen a leg bruised up like that from a lateral release, especially almost two weeks after the surgery. They couldn't believe it is still swollen as badly as it is either. They also kept feeling how hot it was for some reason.

I knew it wasn't good when the therapists kept calling for other therapists go come in and take a look at how bad it was. I'm supposed to call them back in a few days and let them know if there are any improvements.

I been wondering how this has been doing.

It's hot to the touch? If so, that is the tell-tell sign of infection, right?

That's what I thought but I don't know for sure. I have an appt with surgeon tomorrow morning.
Yes yes it is....:( and your PTs comments were dead on.

What did your surgeon say when you saw him last week?

Any updates?

I ended up high siding my bike last night on Casdorph Rd and hitting the asphalt pretty hard. At first, the road rash was my biggest concern. Oh, cracked the helmet but it did its job wonderfully, my head felt fine. Now, the soreness is setting in more and getting some swelling in my knee. Nothing like yours but bad enough. This injury made me immediately think of you and how your doing.

Actually yes, the doctor told me to start selling my bikes. I should be able to do easy rides but my racing days are over. I'm not sure if I will ever even be able to do any real climbing again. It sucks and I am not happy about it in the least.

That sucks about the crash, I'm glad you are mostly okay though. I've crashed road bikes twice, it has sucked both times. One of the crashes involved four of us, it's amazing how fast things can go wrong.

Well, how many people told Lance that even if he survived he would never be able to race again? I wouldn't put too much stock into them at this point.

I been riding on the road for about 6 years now, this is my first. I'm glad I didn't take anyone else out.

I've been taken out by other riders but I've never taken anyone out so I have been pretty lucky. What's really amazing is that I have never crashed in a race. It's been extremely close though, I had my front wheel taken out once and the whole bike went sideways. A few people behind me crashed but I made it, ended up getting third in that race. :)
