Kole not taking prepared foods

I picked up a Kole 6 days ago. Since then it has not taken any prepared foods. It actually hides when I feed.

It has done an excellent job of keeping the closed loop intake clean and the acrylic on the front of the aquarium which normally gets scrubbed every three days is nice and clear so I'm not really complaining about that.

Just wondering if I should switch to some more foods for the tang.

Have tried:
Rods food
PE Mysis
Emerald entree
Carnivore cuisine.
Nori
Fresh ulva from my other system
Hair algae
Taxifloria (wouldn't that have been nice to be a favorite food)

Tank is a 65g. Parameters are good.

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5 ish
pH 8.3
Alk 9
Ca 420
Mg was a bit low so I supplemented.

It may take longer for the fish to fully acclimate. One I kept in the past ate pretty much eveything but for the first couple weeks mostly grazed on the rocks/glass. One of the better herbivores IMO. Give it time. It should start eating your tank fare soon.

agree with jerry, just give it time. a friend bought a PBT and it didnt eat anything he offered for 2 weeks and only grazed, but later on slowly accepted nori. just have some food clipped somewhere it grazes often and it may pick at it

some kole tangs wont eat the nori off the clip but will if the nori is rubberbanded to the rock. mine loves formula 2 flakes, you could give that a try also.

Having the same problem. Added mine last Friday He hid a lot, but yesterday he started to come out and about grazing on the rocks. Still has ot accepted any prepared food, but hopefully in time he will come around

same here, got mine on sunday, still have not seen it eat prepared, hopefully the yellow tang he is with will show him how to eat prepared and from the clip :-D still fat and happy though

Mine didn't eat any prepared foods for the first 2 weeks and now eats anything that hits the water.

I just added a Powder Blue a week and a half ago. It took him four days to eat and he only picks at the brine enriched with spirulina. Good luck.
