kole tang eating, but not what I give him

I bought a kole tang a week ago and I have tried every way to get him to eat prepared foods, but he won't do it. I have put nori on clips, rubber-banded it to big rocks, little rocks and flat rocks. I've given him formula 2, mysis, lettuce, spinach, brocolli and used garlic but he won't eat anything i give him. He'll go up and nip at the algae on the clip but he won't eat it. A few times he has eaten a couple tiny pieces of nori that i ripped up and let flow around the tank. What he does do is pic at the rocks, sand and glass all day. Much to my amazement, the tang looks great, he's very active and a scratch that he had on his belly from the LFS has even healed. This just seems pretty weird to me.

During qt and even for a cpl weeks in my main tank my kole tang acted the same way. Don't worry though, it will adjust and will eventually eat everything and anything like a pig. They wont starve thats for sure.
