I have a kole tang that is aggressive with new tank additions. I was told that one issue could be he may not be getting enough algae. I feed other foods like mysis &brine shrimp which he eats eagerly but drop in nor a couple of times a week. Can anyone suggest how much to feed?

Thanks

You should start feeding it seaweed pellets. They are commonly available, inexpensive and easier to feed than Nori sheets. As far as aggression, many tangs including Kole tangs are territorial. There is a good chance that the tang's aggression will not subside even with regular algae feedings. May be put him in a separate holding tank or a sump if its big enough until you are done stocking.

I feed my Tangs Yaki Sushi Nori Roasted Seaweed...1 sheet every three days. You can get it at a local Korean market for $6..... 40 sheets dip it roll it and attach to a rock with a rubberband.

Once I started feeding my herbivores algae pellets I never even once bought Nori sheets because they are more involved and tend to be much messier than pellets.
This pack was only $6 and has lasted me forever.

I have been using sheets with a clip but they tear away and end up clogging my overflow drain if not checked regularly

When using clips I fold 1/2 to 1 sheet twice and then take scissors and cut in to the sheets about every 1/4-1/8" (about half way in to the sheets). That way the nori comes off in easily ingestable size bites with no significant waste at all. When they get down to the clip I remove the remainder from the clip and hand feed it to the four fish that commonly take food from my hand.

Great suggestion, thanks

I use a piece of PVC pipe and a rubber band. Make a tight wad of 1" x 1" folded in on itself tightly held together by the rubber band looped over super tight. Toss it in and my powder spends most of the day working on it. Very little breaks off and great exercise for the fish and eventually the snails.
He goes nuts just at the sight of small PVC now.

Want to try the pellets for other fish though.
