Kole tang with sore

i've had a kole tang for about two weeks--he was very clean and clear and healthy looking when i got him. about three days ago it looked like he was developing a sore on his right side (its about 1/4" across), about 2/3's of the way back his body--he's 4" long. now its a full-fledged sore-looking sore! he's eating, swimming quickly back and forth, and is seemingly playing or mimicking the female gold stripe maroon in the tank (and she's been very good to him--hasnt attacked him once that i've seen! in that same time, she's attacked the male, oh...4,365 times...).

i can't get a good picture of it, because if i get up from my desk towards the tank, he dashes behind the rock wall.

any advice or suggestions?

thanks,
tim

Without a pic its hard to tell. Is he eating normal? Could be an infection of some sort. How are the other fish in the tank?

the other two are fine both in behavior and looks (GSM clowns). he seems to be eating quite normally.

its a perfectly round 1/4" bump on his side...i'll try for a pic tonight.
