Korala 4 VS. Anemone

Has anyone had any problems with anemones getting sucked up by koralas? Im thinking of buying a RBTA and i do not want it to get sucked up by the korala.

I'm using a Koralia 2, and so far, my new RBTA, hasn't got stuck inside it, and it has been a week. Tho, it did try to get into my filter somehow...lol.

my huge cbta hit my koreila four well now i have 5 Gbtas, Not a good powerhead for nems. Those 5 nems periodically find them too. I need to change to something else if i want to keep all those nems. I call it the nem blender

I would have to say that they are the worst. If you have one, do not put it in the tank until the clown has found a spot it wants to settle in and it isn't moving.

They are actually not so great pumps, I am reading LOTS of reviews on the poor quality of the motors that drive the impellers slowing down after about 18 months and there is no way of reversing it.

well i already have the korala i was thinking about using egg crate to make a small box for it. anyone think that would work?

I have a Korelia 2 and am about to get a RBTA also - if anyone else has covering ideas I would love to hear it. I've heard of sponges or screens - is there anything commercial we can buy?

As for the eggcrate idea - I'm not sure if that would work... I'd love to hear how it goes!

I usually just place a piece of nylon hose over the koralia until the nem has settled into place. I keep it handy if it decides it is in a "moving" mood later on. It usually takes a couple of days to settle in at first.

I have 3 Koralias and my huge BTA stuck in once. I rescued him without any damage though.

There are egg shaped cross stitching grids that supposedly fit over the koralias pretty nicely.

All I did was wrap it initially till the nem found a spot and removed them....I keep my nems happy and they haven't moved a bit.

I inherited a tank on Saturday and was housing an RBTA in the QT with a Koralia 1. Suddenly, he decided he didn't want to be at the bottom of the tank or the LR and decided to make the Koralia his home. I awoke on monday to see that the flow in the tank had stopped and the anemone was unresponsive. Mouth is closed and he had worked his pedal all the way inside. Tentacles do respond to touch. I unplugged the powerhead and tried to remove him but he's stuck deep inside. Not sure if he is still alive but left him in tank alone to see if he can work himself out. I will probably just break the powerhead to see if he is still well.

I was lucky with my BTA, it settled in quickly, and I've got 3 Koralia 4s in my 75g tank. I would suggest putting osmething over them at first though, like woman's stalkings or somehing.

A BTA can and will move at any time, probably when you're asleep or not around. The only way to avert the risk is to keep your powerheads covered at all times.

Just an update on my RBTA vs. Koralia 1. I came home to see that he had moved a bit but was still wedged through one of the side slits in the eggshell cone. I had previous dismantled the powerhead hoping he would come out on his own. This was not the case. His foot was completely inside and tentacles on other side. I proceeded to snap all the slits and free him. Put him back in the QT and he floated about motionless. Few hours later, he was still floating but there was definitely some expanding/contracting. Woke up this morning and he has reattached himself to bottom of tank. Will attempt to feed him tonight to see how he's doing. He looks ok but his size has diminished from about 8 inches fully open to about 2 inches now.

What do you coverup, the whole egg or front? Just bought one and want to avoid the blender affect.
