Koralia 3 + Wavemaster Pro?

I just got 2 koralia 3's to replace my 4 MJ1200's that where on a Wavemaster Pro. I have read that the wavemaster was compatible w/the koralia powerheads after you insert a piece of airline tubing to quite em down. The airline tubing did make one of em way quieter but now they both have a tendency to start in reverse! One pump still clicks away at start-up. Can anyone help?

Ive had the same problem with my MJ's but it could always be solved with a new impeller or cleaning. I didn't have to worry about reverse flow either. The reverse flow thing isn't all that big a deal, in fact it helps ramdomize the flow...but, this clicking Has got to stop. After 2 days I have found myself in a love hate relationship with these things. I am starting to hate em, but my corals love em. Ive got a few more days to RMA em'. Maybe its time to give the MJ mod a try.

I have two 4s on my Wavemaster pro. They usualy clatter for a second on startp, but it doesn't bother me. The clattering makes sure they start in the right direction. The tubing mod quiets them down, but as you found out, it causes them to sometimes start in reverse. using them on a wavemaker also shortens their lifespans.

well I've pulled em out and re-cut airline tubing to the exact length needed to eliminate the chatter with just enough room to let the propeller spin freely. Still seems like they make a little rattle when they run in reverse. Does anyone know what makes these things run forward? Im wondering if i can put airline behind the impeller just enough to find the "sweet spot" where the magnets will always attract in the same direction. Has anyone tried tubing on both sides of the propeller?

i used to run 2 k3s on a wavemaster and i just ditched the wavemaster. i would opt for a closed loop with a SCWD for a better wavemaker

you sound like you’re doing the same thing I did with the MJ mod. I put a tube behind the prop of varying lengths to try and find the sweet spot but couldn't get it to stop spinning in reverse and clunking.

As far as an anti reverse the K's have them as well but when you put the airline tube on the front of the prop you are bypassing it

If I mod all of my MJ will they still make this sound at start up? Im really starying to miss the days of a quiet tank with the MJ's...
