koralias on a wavemaker

Any expeience with koralias on a wavemaker the on/off cycles would be about 6 minutes. I read before that they aren't well suited to the constant on/off, but with a 6 minute delay, how would that work?

I've been using them on a wave timer with a 30 sec. cycle. I used a DIY mod with vinyl tubing in the shaft and it works okay. The Koralias themselves don't seem to mind it, but they sometimes still rattle a bit on startup and run backwards from time to time. I have a Maxi Jet with a Sure Flow Mod that works perfectly, though.

I have 2 Koralia 2s on a wavemaker timed at 30 sec. No mods, no problems so far. I've heard that there can be problems doing this but so far so good. 3 months now.

By the way... what kind of mod did you do with the vinyl tubing?

I might have misunderstood it, but supposedly, if you take a small piece of vinyl airline tubing and put it over the metal part of the impeller shaft that protrudes from the front of the prop it will keep it from rattling on startup. Seems to silence them a bit but sometimes makes them run in reverse.
