Korallin reactor question

rmosqued, I hate to do this to you but you need to seriously consider your regulator. Milwaukee regulators are notoriously bad when it comes to metering low flow. To me, that is one of the wekest links in your system. It wouldn't matter what kind of Ca reactor you had, the regulator is going to cause stability problems. By all means do the 1502 mod, it will make a HUGE difference. But you need to ditch that regulator. I know they're pricey but the aquariumplants.com electronic ones are THE BOMB in my opinion. $189.99 for the electronic regulator or $289.99 if you need to have an LCD read-out (for whatever reason).

Jtma508, I don't have a Milwakee regulator. I have a JBJ, I don't know if that makes a difference, but if it does I'll consider an electronic regulator. What is your take on the JBJ?
I've already ordered the parts for the mod from US plastics, so we'll see what comes of it.
Thanks for the info, I may see the 1502 in a different light. =)

Oh sorry about that... I saw the Milwaukee mentioned in the OP and thought it was you for some reason. My bad. I haven't seen any ranting against the JBJ but have no personal experience with it. Do you have the pH probe top for the 1502? Do you use a pH controller?

jtma508, no I don't use the PH probe top, although I was considering it when I initially purchased the reactor. I had ordered it from Marinedepot, but then cancelled, due to the claims of the 1502 not needing a controller. Also, since I slowly adjusted my ALK to 9.6DKH, I didn't think there would be too much CO2 going into my reef, but I could be wrong.

I have a 72 gal bow front with a Mag 9.5 as my return. I have a Korallin Ca Reactor C1502. What are your suggestions on how I get water from the tank to the reactor? External pump (I have a maxijet 1200 and a mag 3 or I guess I could tap into my aqueon 2500 suppling my UV sterilizer, Chiller and Dual Stage BRS) or tap into my Mag 9.5?

I use a maxi-jet 400 and it works great, tap off something if you want it doesn't take much to get flow threw it and they can be set up gravity feed which doesn't work the best but does work.
